Currier & Ives 47x36 Fabric 1823 Horse Race Union Course NY ECLIPSE vs SIR HENRY For Sale

My pictures do not do this justice. Awesome piece of thoroughbred horse racing history! From the original Currier & Ives print \"Run on the Long Island Union Course May 27, 1823.\" It states, \"First important race in the United States,\" \"200,000 dollars said to have changed hands,\" \"First heat between American Eclipse and Sir Henry won by Eclipse in 7 min. 38 sec.\" Second heat, third heat... American Eclipse represented the north and Sir Henry represented the south. Eclipse won the best-of-three competition. Large 47 X 36 inch cloth with four colorful racing scenes (the first and last are the same). Also, six circles with racing statistics. The cloth, itself, which is finished on each end with zig zag stitching, is not dated when it was made. Excellent condition - the third scene has a slight water stain that is hardly noticeable as it blends in with the clouds. Has been part of my personal horse racing collection for 40+ years, kept folded. Could be ironed from the back to take out the few wrinkles. No holes. From a smoke free home. Insured Postage $9.50.
