ORIGINAL 1955 DRAGNET RADIO PRODUCTION SCRIPTThis lot is for an original vintage production script for the classic NBC radio series DRAGNET, program #312, “THE BIG MISSUS,” originally broadcast August 9, 1955.Program stars Jack Webb as Detective Sergeant Joe Friday, with Ben Alexander, during the classic Chesterfield-sponsored NBC radio era.

WALTER SCHUMANN / MUSIC

Walter Schumann (1913–1958) was the composer and musical director associated with Dragnet. Most importantly, he composed the famous Dragnet theme, one of the most recognizable themes in American radio and television history. He was credited with music on the radio series, and the Paley Center specifically identifies him as both Music Director and music credit on the NBC radio program.

Note: The name \"Schumann\" is written in red pencil on the special Dragnet cover. Walter Schumann, listed on the cover/first page credits, was the Music Supervisor for the series and credited with the iconic \"Dum De Dum Dum\" opening stinger. We have not authenticated Schumann\'s signature, but this particular script appears to include rare music / and or cue notes in pen and pencil.First page cover also identifies other key members of the production, including Jack Webb, writer Frank Burt, along with composer Walter Schumann, announcer Hal Gibney, and the program\'s Los Angeles Police Department technical-advisory connection.This script is an original surviving production document from one of the most influential police dramas in American radio history — a remarkable artifact from the Jack Webb DRAGNET era.

The handsome title page is on a lightly colored stock which has toned the following Cast Page.
