Offered here is an ancient Roman silver denarius of Emperor Domitian, struck at the Rome Mint around AD 90.
The obverse features the laureate head of Domitian facing right. Portions of the imperial legend remain visible and are consistent with a late-reign Domitian issue.
The reverse depicts Minerva standing, one of Domitian’s characteristic denarius designs. The partially visible reverse legend appears to read:
IMP XXI COS XV CENS P P P
This legend indicates Domitian’s 21st imperial acclamation, 15th consulship, perpetual censorship, and title of Father of the Country. Based on the surviving legend, the coin was likely struck around AD 90. The exact RIC variety remains tentative because of wear and surface roughness.
