ORIGINAL KING NORMAN’S PROVENANCEEspecially interesting is the surviving King Norman’s $9.99 retail price sticker still attached to the original shrink wrap.King Norman’s Kingdom of Toys was a well-known San Francisco/Bay Area toy-store chain founded by Norman and Doris Rosenberg. Its first San Francisco store opened on Clement Street in the early 1950s, and King Norman’s became a Bay Area institution through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, eventually expanding to approximately 21 locations by the 1970s. The Rosenbergs sold the business in the early 1980s. The original $9.99 King Norman’s sticker provides wonderful period retail provenance and is particularly appropriate considering that the original D&D boxed set carried an approximately $10 retail price. The wrap shows expected age-related wrinkling, looseness, creasing and wear, particularly at corners and edges. The white box shows some age/storage discoloration, spotting and handling marks visible through the wrap. The original King Norman’s $9.99 price sticker has age and wear but remains attached.The shrink wrap and price sticker have intentionally been left completely untouched.Please examine all photographs closely.
