1720-1730 Brass Candlesticks – Matched Pair – Transitional French/English Period
Authentic matched pair of early 18th-century brass candlesticks dating to circa 1720. These fine examples reflect French design influences that were incorporated into English brass candlestick production during the transitional period, a development discussed in Schiffer's Brass Book.

Both candlesticks feature attractively faceted mid-sections and lower knops, details that are difficult to capture in photographs. The elegant form combines French styling with English craftsmanship, making them excellent representatives of this desirable period of brass manufacture.
The shafts are of finely executed seamed construction, while the bases are one-piece castings with brass peening. The undersides of base show cold hand chiseling around petal borders with beautiful lathe marks toward the center and even wear consistent with nearly 300 years of age and use.
