I’m selling this 1973 hardcover copy of Early New Hanover County Records by Elizabeth F. McKoy of Wilmington, North Carolina.
This is a locally produced reference work built from early New Hanover County deed and land records. McKoy explains that she worked through courthouse deed books, abstracting records and organizing material by location. The book includes names, dates, land transactions, named plantations, Wilmington and Cape Fear-area material, and maps including the reproduced Moseley Map of 1733.
This is a former library copy from J. Y. Joyner Library at East Carolina University. It retains library markings including a spine label, title-page stamp, ownership/edge stamp, barcode label, and card pocket inside the rear cover. The blue cloth boards have rubbing, scattered spotting, edge and corner wear, and wear at the spine ends. The gilt cover and spine lettering remain readable. The interior pages are clean.
For someone researching New Hanover County families, property, plantations, Wilmington, the Cape Fear region, or early North Carolina land records, this is a useful original 1973 reference rather than a general narrative history.
