The Crawley nameplate and raised cast SPEEDIVAC lettering date this pump to approximately 1957–1965 — the golden era of British vacuum engineering. Edwards (founded 1919, and still a world leader in vacuum technology today — their pumps serve CERN’s Large Hadron Collider) moved to Crawley in 1953; this pump came out of that original factory. A Speedivac of this same era is held in the UK Science Museum Group collection.Condition — serviced and running: • Fully cleaned, fresh vacuum pump oil
