Two-volume 1897 Arthur L. Humphreys edition of Epictetus, reprinted from the translation of George Long. Attractive green leather binding with gilt decoration, marbled edges, and red/black title pages. Both volumes are very clean internally and appear little read. Text blocks are strong and rear boards remain firmly attached. Important condition note: the front cover/board of each volume is detached. Sold as-is as a handsome repair candidate / binding copy. A bibliographic catalogue describes this edition as 4to, two volumes, original paper wrappers, uncut edges. A high-end dealer copy of the same Humphreys 1897 Epictetus, in a signed Joseph Bretault crushed morocco binding and fine condition, catalogued at $1,200, and another Pirages catalogue later had the same/similar copy at $950.
