FERNANDO AMORSOLO (1892-1972) 1919 Art Print \"Reclining Nude\" Listed Philippines For Sale

Overview:Up for sale is a sepia-toned print depicting a reclining female nude by listed Filipino artist Fernando Amorsolo (1892–1972). The composition dates to 1919 and depicts a woman resting with her arms behind her head, rendered in the soft, atmospheric tonal style of a charcoal study.

Amorsolo was a classically trained painter and draftsman renowned for his luminous Philippine landscapes, portraits and sensitive studies of the human figure. He became the first artist named a National Artist of the Philippines and remains one of the country’s most important and widely collected twentieth-century artists.

Amorsolo\'s monogram signature (including in the printing process) appears at lower right. I\'m not sure what the printing process was or if this is a later print than the original 1919 production. Comparable impressions are documented in a suite of Amorsolo nude studies copyrighted by Morris & Bendien of New York. Presented in wide period matting with a narrow brown liner and secured to the mat with older tape on the reverse.
