This listing is for a very rare vintage autographed sheet signed by legendary Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers Head Coach Fred Shero. The signature is on a like-new condition blue 3 3/4\" x 5\" sheet signed in red ink. The Shero autograph was likely obtained in-person at a Flyers-Rangers match at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Shero coached the Flyers from 1971-78 during which Philadelphia played the Rangers at MSG just three times (10/25/72, 11/13/74, 10/26/75). As the autograph hound \"Frank\' was a frequent fan at many sporting events at the Garden throughout the 70s (see more about Frank below), I am inclined to pinpoint the signing date as just one of these possible three.
Fred Shero is a Hockey legend who played briefly for the New York Rangers (1947-50) in the NHL and played on various AHL, WHL, and QHL teams until retiring from active playing to enter the coaching world in 1958. He finally got his shot at NHL coaching with the Flyers in 1971 and led them to back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in 1974 and 1975 Fred Shero passed on November 24,1990 at age 65.He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013. The autograph is part of a large cache of like-new vintage signatures obtained in-person by an autograph hound named \'Frank\' throughout the 1970\'s. Carefully preserved, each autograph paper is from an album or is a 3 3/4\"x 5\" color sheet. Many sheets have two or more signatures, both sides. Mostly sports figures of the time with plenty of current Hall of Famers in their playing days, the signatures appear to be from New York City or New Jersey events, Broadway, and assorted celebrity moments in the area. Each is guaranteed to be genuine and will pass any authentication process.
