I've decided to sell this EXTREMELY RARE antique Stoneware pitcher with the very unique STRUTTING STAG mold pattern and beautiful all-blue glaze. This pitcher is very, very difficult to find, especially in this nice condition.Itfeatures the very stunning "Strutting Stag" scene on both sides. The top rim is decorated with ivy or tree-leaf ceiling over the antlers of the stag. The bottom section is beautifully molded with a grassy setting.Check out the strong mold detail - you can even see the wrinkles / folds in the neck of the stag. The handle has a strong and sturdy appearance.I was told this pitcher was made by the Ohio based Brush - McCoy Pottery in the early1900s and it was a compliment to the more commonly found all-blue "Doe & Fawn" pitcher . It measures approx. 7-7/8” high to the top rim x 6” diameter at the widest part of the belly at the bottom. It will be a great addition to yourrare stoneware collection. It would be very difficult to find one of these great pitchers in better condition. Don'tlet this hard-to-find piece get away - it's a gorgeous piece of early American art.Be sure to clickBuy-It-NOW before it's too late!!!
CONDITION:This wonderful piece survived more than 100 years and is still in amazing condition. The only post manufacturing issue is one shallow glaze flake / chip approximately 5/16" wide on the right inside edge of the top rim. This early antique piece also has minor mold imperfections that are a result of the hand-made manufacturing process, and are common to these early pieces -thesemold imperfections add character and assure this is an antique and not a reproduction- reproductions typically have near perfect molding resulting from automated manufacturing process versus the early hand made pieces. It also has the usual staining / glaze crazing / oxidation found on these early pieces. That's it!!! NO CRACKS, HAIRLINE CRACKS OR REPAIRS to this piece. I inspected this piece under blacklight for confirmation. It has the usual manufacturing characteristics found on OLD yellow ware / stoneware (i.e., pits, pops, glaze skips, rubs, runs, bubbles, glaze separations, staining, crazing, and wrinkles & lines in glaze).
