The drag — read this if you fish salt The Torque drag is a carbon fiber and Ertalyte TX compression system, and it is excellent: smooth startup, wide adjustment range through the microTune knob, and simple enough that it will outlive you. It is not a sealed drag. Galvan does not claim it is. For freshwater and normal flats use that is a non-issue — rinse it and it lasts decades. But if you are wading deep in salt, fishing from a skiff that takes spray, or you have a habit of dunking reels, look at The Grip. Same Galvan build with a fully sealed Water Lock hub and hybrid ceramic bearings. It costs more and it is the right tool for that job.
