Up for sale is a 100% authentic, early production USGI M9 Bayonet manufactured by Phrobis III (Oceanside, CA) under the first official U.S. military contract in the late 1980s.
This is a genuine military issue piece, not a modern commercial copy or reproduction. A fantastic addition for any serious militaria or combat knife collector.
Key Features & Collector Notes:
- Blade Marking: Explicitly stamped with the rare, early-contract \"M9 / PHROBIS III / U.S.A. / PAT. PEND.\" on the ricasso.
- Blade Condition: Holds its original factory edge geometry and finish. The wire-cutter hole and spine sawteeth are completely intact with no structural damage. Blade is sharp, but could be honed at the tip for greater efficiency.
- Scabbard (Type II Cutter Plate): Features the correct early-issue plastic housing with a 2nd generation metal cutter plate, complete with the factory milled drainage slot/groove underneath the pivot post.
