Title: George von Hoesslin Fine Art Print – Adagio Consolante (c. 1895–1915)
Beautiful, genuine turn-of-the-century antique print of the celebrated artwork by German Symbolist painter George von Hoesslin. The allegorical scene features a young woman playing a violin for an elderly wise man beneath a classical loggia, set against a romantic European landscape.
Key Features:
- Authentic Plate Signature: The artist\'s signature is printed in the lower left corner as part of the original plate.
- Premium Cloth Rag Paper: Printed on heavy, textured antique cotton/linen rag paper rather than standard wood-pulp paper, giving the artwork a beautiful tactile quality and depth.
- Original Antique Presentation: The print is housed behind its original protective glass and held into the frame with antique hand-driven nails.
Condition Report (Stable Antique Condition):
The print itself is exceptionally clean with no tears, stains, water damage, or warping. The paper lies flat against the glass. There is some uniform, light-induced fading and a mellowed sepia/pinkish patina that is completely normal and desirable for a piece over 100 years old.
The frame is a simple, dark-stained wood frame showing natural age-related wear, scuffs, and no remaining gilding. The original paper dust cover on the back has disintegrated over time, exposing the original old cardboard backing panels.
Please note: Measurements of the frame are 29.5\" x 21.5\" .
