An Ike dollar with a little extra flash!
Offered here is a 1972 Eisenhower One Dollar coin that has been gold plated after leaving the U.S. Mint, giving the classic oversized “Ike” dollar a striking golden appearance.
The obverse features the familiar portrait of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, surrounded by LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1972 date. Flip it over and you’ll find the dramatic Apollo-inspired reverse: an American eagle descending onto the lunar surface with Earth above, surrounded by stars and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / E PLURIBUS UNUM / ONE DOLLAR.
The gold plating gives an already substantial old-school dollar coin an entirely different personality. It makes for a fun conversation piece, unusual addition to an Eisenhower collection, or inexpensive gift for someone who enjoys American coins and space-age memorabilia.
This coin is in circulated, ungraded condition and shows surface marks, scratches and other signs of previous handling and circulation. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they provide the best representation of the coin’s condition.
