Vintage Gundlach-Manhattan Optical Co. Korona Pictorial View 8x10 large format field camera, made in Rochester, NY. Mahogany body with nickel hardware. The original maker’s label on the front of the base reads Korona Pictorial View (partly worn).

Includes:

• Korona Pictorial View 8x10 camera body
• Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 24cm (240mm) f/4.5 lens, serial 775668, in an Ilex No. 5 Universal shutter, mounted on a lensboard
• 8x10 film holder

What I’ve tested:

• Bellows: I checked with a flashlight in a dark room and saw no light leaks.
• Shutter: Fires, but runs slow and the slow speeds stick (at the 1 second setting it stays open). Needs cleaning/service. Sold as-is.
• Aperture: The blades open and close.
• Ground glass: Present, in the spring-loaded back.
• Focusing and front rise: Both move and lock.

Details:

• Lensboard measures approx. 7.25\" x 7.25\" (outer)
• Reversing back for horizontal or vertical shots
• Folds up compactly for carrying

Condition:

• Normal wear to the wood finish for its age
• Bellows show creasing and wear on the outside and at the corners, but no light leaks found
• Light cleaning marks on the front and rear lens glass
• Film holder dark slide is scuffed

Notes:

• I’m not a photographer and haven’t shot film with this camera. Description and tests are with the limited knowledge of what exactly to look for, and may differ from a professional opinion. It’s sold as described, based on the tests above.
• The 240mm lens is best suited to 5x7. It will likely show dark corners on 8x10 at distance.
