The St. Claire is prized by vintage ceiling fan hobbyists because of its striking resemblance to premium, high-end 19th-century Victorian reproduction fans like the Casablanca Victorian or Emperor. Home Depot offered the St. Claire as an accessible luxury piece, and its build quality and styling far exceed modern budget fans.
Key design elements that collectors love include:
- Intricate Casting: The motor housing features an elaborate fern leaf and flower design.
- Ornate Blade Irons: The blade arms are heavily detailed and decorative.
- False Hang-Through Canopy: The upper canopy features custom structural lines specifically designed to mimic the appearance of a historic classic hang-through motor.
5 Reversible blades (High-gloss walnut / Medium oak finishes)
3-Speed pull chain with manual forward/reverse slide switch
The fan features four clear and frosted, fluted glass shades. They are styled with a decorative scalloped edge mimicking traditional Victorian or "Fern Leaf" aesthetic styling. Has traditional 2-1/4" fitter.
Integrated light kit holding four bulbs (60W Max) in the downward position.
The main profile or side face of the cylindrical motor housing features a wide, deeply embossed relief band.
- Overlapping Fern Fronds: The core pattern consists of stylized, curved fern leaves that cascade horizontally around the entire circumference of the fan. The leaves are cast with raised central ribs and feathered textures that catch the light.
- Victorian Blossoms: Interspersed tightly among the curves of the fern fronds are tiny, multi-petaled floral accents. These flowers break up the botanical greenery pattern, giving the casing a seamless, repeating tapestry aesthetic.
2. The Upper and Lower Vent Accents
Because the high-torque motor requires cooling, the housing balances its heavy casting with necessary ventilation, integrating the vents directly into the artwork:
- Scalloped Borders: The ventilation slots cut into the top and bottom of the motor housing are framed by a series of repeating, arched scalloped ridges.
- Beaded Trim: Along the rim where the motor body meets the light kit fitter, there is a subtle, cast "beaded" or dotted texture meant to emulate traditional Victorian metal-smithing.
3. The Bottom Switch Plate Motif
- Radiating Fern Medallion: The plate features a circular, sunburst-style fern leaf cluster. The leaves bloom outward from the center where the light kit wiring and pull chains emerge, tying the entire botanical theme toget
