Hans Olsen "Fried Egg" Lounge Chair for Bramin Møbler, Denmark, 1959
This is the Fried Egg lounge chair, designed by Hans Olsen and produced by the Danish cabinetmaker Bramin Møbler. This example was made in 1959. It is a Scandinavian Modern piece of the period and one of the most sculptural Danish lounge chairs of the 1950s. The asymmetric shell sweeps up into a wide wing on one side and drops low on the other, so it reads like sculpture from every angle.
Upholstery: Newly reupholstered in Kvadrat Hallingdal 65, color 116, a light gray woven wool. Hallingdal was designed by Nanna Ditzel and is one of Kvadrat's signature textiles. The upholstery is clean and tailored, with welted edges that follow the shell's contours.
Frame: Solid teak base with tapered legs and a cross stretcher. The base has been refinished and keeps its original hardware.
