Grizzly. The book and the bronze, limited to 104 copies, are both number
34." Hand-signed and dated 1972 by artist Harold Von Schmidt, and signed by
author Walt Reed, directly on the limitation page (see photos).

This title won the Western Heritage Award for Best Western Art Book of
1972. Bound in red cloth with quarter olive/brown leather spine, gilt
leather title label to front board, bear emblem stamped to lower front
board. 230 pages with approximately 220 illustrations (50 in color)
spanning the career of Harold Von Schmidt (1893–1982) — one of the great
20th-century American illustrators, whose work appeared in The Saturday
Evening Post, Collier's, Cosmopolitan, and Sunset, and who became a founding
faculty member of the Famous Artists School in 1948. Von Schmidt received
the first gold medal awarded by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1968.
CONDITION: Near fine / like new. Clean, bright cloth and leather spine, no
fading or fraying noted. Pages clean and unmarked. ORIGINAL SLIPCASE
