Up for sale is a rare vintage IBM ThinkPad R40 laptop with Windows 98 SE and XP Professional dual boot system installed. It is in good working and cosmetic condition.Software:Windows XP, Windows 98 SE, and vintage software and games, etc.Hardware:
The laptop is equipped with an Intel Pentium M CPU at 1.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB hard drive, Large 15\" XGA (1024x768) LCD,25-pin Printer port, swappable Floppy diskdrive, an portable DVD Writer drive, 2 USB ports, Modem port, External VGA port, PCMCIA slot, LAN port, etc. Main Battery is dead. You need to plug in AC power to work. CMOS battery was just replaced, OEM AC Adapter is also included.
This laptop is most suitable for legacy Windows XP applications, Windows 95/98 gaming, and other vintage applications. As far as Internet goes, the Windows 98 SE supported browsers are too old for modern WEB pages. Windows XP can do some limited internet only because of its old browser and hardware (for example, it can\'t access YouTube). So do not buy this for Internet purposes.Notes:1. The normal CDROM bay is taken by a floppy disk drive. An external Verbatim DVD Writer is provided when CD/DVD disks are needed.2. Battery is dead, you will need to plug it into AC source to have it work.
Cosmetically, it is used with normal wear and tear for its age. LCD lid top and bottom have many scratches. The docking port lost its cover (at bottom).Overall,in good cosmetic condition for its age. See pictures.
Laptop will be cleaned up and fully tested before shipping.
Laptop will be carefully packed and shipped in UPS or FedEx ground, or USPS Ground with insurance.
