Despite the date of manufacture, the tape is still good and perfectly fine. I have started the roll by peeling back a portion of the paper backing from the tape as shown. As long as you cut the tape itself, and do not cut the separated paper backing from the tape still attached on the roll, you will be able to keep separating the tape from the backing and use and cut the tape with ease as needed.
