Extraordinarily rare in any grade, this beautiful BU early 19th century restrike depicts 16th century engraver Gian Federico Bonzagni\'s medal Il Cristo sulla barca – Christ on the Boat. The piece comes to us courtesy of Roman Mint Director Francesco Mazio (1769-1852), who in 1824 gained permission from the Vatican to restrike a very few medals by baroque master engravers.
