For sale is this original, Indian Miniature Painting depicting Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, seated together under a canopy. Below them are other deities in attendance, while the bottom section features symbolic imagery including a Nandi Bull, Tiger, and a Shri Yantra. The artwork reflects classic iconography often found in 18th and 19th-century regional Indian art traditions. I believe this painting is on tree bark, utilizing opaque water colors over gesso with gold leaf. This painting is referred to a \"miniature\" because of the very detailed work, usually done with a single squirrel hair for such things as facial hair and eyes. As far as I am aware, It is unsigned.
The outside dimensions of the frame are approximately: W. 14-1/8\" x L. 18-1/8\". The dimensions of the painted portion which is matted are: W.8-1/2\" x L. 12-1/4.\"
