Printed in a small run of estimated 500 copies.
*Ann Charters actually gets this one wrong stating a First Edition is in multi colour when the black and white is a True First Edition.
Extremely rare in any condition. So it\'s a very rare case that the Ex library distinction doesn\'t detract too much from the value due to the absolute scarcity of the items.
Most later hardcover printings were printed after Kerouac\'s death and although they are technically in the same edition they are printed a decade later than this the True First Edition.
Condition. Ex Library. Good/Good Plus. Ex. Library with regular library distinctions. Card envelope. Stamps. Index number on jacket.
FEP with the card envelope has some page damage as seen in photos. That being said, they used to really take care of things back in the day. Dustjacket. Very Good. Library index sticker to base of jacket spine. And a small hole in that area as seen in photos. Which has been covered with a similar colour piece of paper with a post it note on the reverse side. I didn\'t do it but it\'s not damaging anything and helps cosmetically so I left it on it. Dustjacket hinges both front and rear remain mostly intact but show some wear and a couple spots. Jacket itself is in great shape. Light handling and edge wear. Some light handling creasing. The DJ was put on the book off center, presumably from the factory which is why it looks a bit off. To flatten it and create a new crease on both front and rear flaps may be possible but I didn\'t want to risk damaging the Jacket. Book. Good Plus. As mentioned Ex. Library with stamps and Library markings. Light to moderate handling wear. Spine is pretty good with it remaining quite tight. This is a very rare book. I cannot stress this enough. And I\'m not one to use the \"rare\" term very often.
