This piece features a fully functional rotating inner cylinder that allows the collector to alternate between two distinct faces: a dramatic theatrical character and a grotesque demon/Hannya mask. The robes are meticulously detailed with incised textured lines, patch details, and dark ink staining (sumi) to accentuate the deep folds of the garment.
The flat base features two clean himotoshi (cord holes) and a deeply incised, authentic two-character signature that reads 次木 (Tsugiki), a known workshop lineage specializing in export-quality theatrical carvings during the late Meiji era.
