Fifteen books covering the whole J2EE stack (web tier, business tier and the server it runs on), plus all three original fold-out reference posters, still with their books.
This is one architecture end to end, not a random pile of Java books: servlets → JSP → Struts and JSF on the presentation side, Enterprise JavaBeans and JMS on the business side, and the JBoss application server underneath. If you maintain, inherit or are learning a legacy J2EE application, this is the reference shelf its developers worked from.
The web tier
- Java Servlet Programming, 2nd Edition (2001), Jason Hunter. O\'Reilly. Photo 20.
- Java Servlet & JSP Cookbook (2004), Bruce Perry. O\'Reilly. Photo 21.
- JavaServer Pages, 2nd Edition (2002), Hans Bergsten. O\'Reilly. Appears unread. Photo 22.
- JavaServer Pages, 1st Edition (2001), Hans Bergsten. O\'Reilly.
- Programming Jakarta Struts (2003), Chuck Cavaness. O\'Reilly. Photo 23.
- Struts in Action (2003), Ted Husted et al. Manning. Photo 24.
- Core JavaServer Faces (2004), Geary & Horstmann. Prentice Hall / Sun Microsystems Press. Photo 19.
The business tier
- Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans, 2nd Edition (2002), Ed Roman et al. Wiley. With its original fold-out EJB Reference Chart (photo 11).
- Enterprise JavaBeans, 3rd Edition (2001), Richard Monson-Haefel. O\'Reilly. ⚠ Water damaged; see the note below (photos 12–13).
- EJB Design Patterns (2002), Floyd Marinescu. Wiley. With its original fold-out pattern chart (photo 10).
- Professional EJB (2001), Wrox Press.
- Expert One-on-One J2EE Design and Development (2002), Rod Johnson. Wrox. The book that led to the Spring Framework.
- Enterprise JMS Programming (2002), Shaun Terry. Hungry Minds / M&T Books.
The patterns
- Core J2EE Patterns, 2nd Edition (2003), Alur, Crupi & Malks. Prentice Hall / Sun Microsystems Press. With its original fold-out patterns poster, the insert advertised on its back cover (photos 08–09, 18).
The server
- JBoss: A Developer\'s Notebook (2005), Richards & Griffith. O\'Reilly. Photo 14.
All three original fold-out posters are included
Three of these books shipped with a large fold-out wall chart, and all three are still here: the Core J2EE patterns catalogue, the EJB Design Patterns chart and the Mastering EJB reference chart. They\'re shown unfolded in photos 08, 10 and 11. Most surviving copies lost theirs long ago.
⚠ ONE BOOK IS WATER DAMAGED. Please read before buying.
Enterprise JavaBeans, 3rd Edition (book 9) got wet at some point. There are brown tide marks, waviness and staining along the lower margins of the front matter and many interior pages, and the cover shows moderate wear. The text is legible throughout and the binding is intact, but the staining is obvious and permanent. Photos 12 and 13 show it close up. I\'ve priced the lot treating this book as a bonus. If that\'s a problem for you, please don\'t buy; I\'d rather lose the sale than have you disappointed. None of the other fourteen books has any water damage.
About the JBoss cover
The coffee rings and yellow sticky note on the front of JBoss: A Developer\'s Notebook (photo 14) are printed artwork. O\'Reilly designed the Developer\'s Notebook series to look like a used lab notebook. The book isn\'t stained and nothing is stuck to it.
Condition
Apart from the water-damaged book, all fourteen are complete and tightly bound, with no highlighting or annotation. They show ordinary shelf wear for their age, and Core J2EE Patterns has a light bump at one front corner. Six are Very Good: Core J2EE Patterns, Core JavaServer Faces, Expert One-on-One J2EE, Professional EJB, Struts in Action and JBoss: A Developer\'s Notebook.
Three books carry a previous owner\'s mark:
- JBoss: A Developer\'s Notebook: a name on the inside endpaper (photo 15).
- Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans: a signature on the title page (photo 16).
- Enterprise JMS Programming: a company ownership stamp on the title page (photo 17).
No CDs: none of these titles came with one.
