The book documents Franklin\'s earlier overland expeditions in North America from 1816 and 1825, not his final, ill-fated voyage for the Northwest Passage. The 1859 publication date is significant because it was a time of intense searching for his lost 1845 expedition, which vanished while seeking the passage.
Condition: A bit rough, Acceptable based on age, depends on your own thresholds really. The cover has very stained area, age, wear, fading. When the book is opened you see the first endpaper, with a pencilled number and the next page with a very very faint pencilled inscription. There is cracking at the title page but still holding together. The book has seen moisture at the bottom edge of the first few pages. Book has some waves. The binding is stretched out a bit dangerously in places, but holding on yet.
