Joseph Charles Francois original wooded landscape sunset oil painting 31\" x 26\" For Sale

Original painting by Belgium artist Joseph Charles Francois (1851-1940), signed lower right. Large scale wooded landscape at sunset. Very good condition, painting is free of tears, holes or repairs. Displays quite well in an impressive, ornate gesso frame. Please let me know if you have any questions.

By sight the painting is 31\" x 25.25\". Painted on an approximate 31.5\" x 26\" stretcher. Frame is about 38.75\" x 32.75\".

Very good condition, displays well as found.No damage to the canvas, no holes, no rips, lays flat, canvas is tight, no water damage etc. Paint is clean and bright overall, minor craquelure as expected, minor stretcher mark along top edge, no repairs, no inpainting. Frame (most likely original) is nice, solid and in square. While it looks great there is corner and edge wear in the gesso; some resulting in minor areas of loss. There are age lines or splits on the sides, some areas have some touch up. The antiqued finish is very forgiving, the forward facing portion of the frame is still looking nice and generally free of chips or loss. As shown on the back the stretcher is held in by four \"brackets\". You might consider having this secured in a better fashion, but it is holding.
