I am selling my Kay Truetone K5165 Cherry Sunburst Auditorium Acoustic guitar, made in Chicago around 1969.Has an in-line headstock found on a few Kay electric guitars, like the Apollo, from the late sixties era.
The vintage bridge is an upgrade from the chunky wooden one that came with it but, even with the height wheels removed, is a bit high. The neck is straight but action gets high once you get down towards the 10th fret or so. It is possible the neck could be shimmed but I have not tried to take the neck off to do so. If I was going to hold onto this cool guitar (I have one too many acoustics) I would consider a low Stella type bridge.
But it plays and sounds nice with a rich acoustic tone and good frets. There is a truss rod, I have not been able to test it because none of my tools fit, though it seems to be around a 7-8 mm nut.
The high E tuner is bent but works for tuning and the tuners themselves keep tune well.
Nicks around the edges but this is a solid guitar.
About 42 inches in length, the lower bout is 15 inches across, scale is 25.5 inches, neck is medium size, the nut is about 1.75 inches across.
