Flowers here are not arrangements sitting on a table. They are architecture. This is the first photo collection devoted to Keichiku Tarumi, a flower architect whose work treats blossoms, branches and greenery as materials for shaping space itself, and it gives you 256 pages of that vision in photographs.
Tarumi has created floral work for Lalique Japan, Cassina IXC, Bulthaup, Shiseido, Japan Airlines, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz, and the book shows how her pieces refuse to stay inside the usual boundaries of cut-flower work. Built on the idea of harmony between flowers and space, her creations change the character of the vessel and the setting around them, so that a room reads differently once she has worked in it. Turning the pages, you begin to see why high-end brands hand her their interiors.
The photographs were made over three and a half years, following her creative process rather than simply cataloguing finished pieces. That long span lets you trace the thinking and the breath behind the work, and it is what separates this from a standard portfolio book. The text is in Japanese, but the photography carries the book, so the images are readable on their own.
