Purchased at The Annex Galleries, Santa Rosa, NOTE: LARS BO was a Danish artist and writer. He is known for his graphic works with surrealistically inspired fantastic motifs. \'Le Vautour\' or \'The Vulture\' is a fine original example of the graphic art created by Bo. Done in shades of black and white, it depicts a vulture hovering over a sprawled figure. It is printed upon thick cream woven paper with full, deckled THE ARTIST: Lars Bo moved to Paris in the early 1950s to study art and printmaking techniques at the famous Atelier 17, under the directorship of Stanley William Hayter. From 1952-1996, Bo enjoyed a successful career as a book illustrator, producing etchings and aquatints for numerous books: accompanying Voltaire, Strindberg, Kafka, Robert Giraud, Francis Garnung, Gogol or Gerard de Nerval. His works depicting his compatriot Hans Christian Andersen are considered the greatest works in this field (\"Around the Snow Queen\" in 1968, \"Swan Lake\" in 1969).
Lars Bo began exhibiting his individual prints and paintings in Paris in 1954. Shortly thereafter he became a leading artist for the French periodical, Le Monde. By 1960 Bo had established an international reputation (especially for his original prints) and exhibitions of his art were held in England, the United States and The artwork is in excellent condition with no flaws to note. It is signed in the lower right corner. It is matted and enclosed in a textured gray wood frame.
