Extremely rare 8-piece tea set (4 cups and 4 saucers) from the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory (LFZ), Leningrad “Paradise Bird” pattern by celebrated Russian porcelain artist T. V. Afanasyeva. Discontinued pattern.
Hand-painted exotic bird in blue, rose, and violet plumage on a flowering branch, with gold accents, on a relief-molded beaded-rim body (4 cups + 4 saucers). The porcelain itself is notably thin and refined,a more sophisticated, delicate body.
artist: Tatiana Afanasyeva (b. 1946) has worked at LFZ/Imperial Porcelain since 1975, trained under the Mukhina school, and interned at Meissen (Germany, 1988). Honors include Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2010), Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2014), Order of Friendship (2018), and the Nicholas Roerich International Prize (2024). Her work is held in the State Hermitage Museum and State Russian Museum. Executed by decorator M. Khukhrygina.
Backstamp: Red LFZ “MADE IN RUSSIA” export mark (circa 1991/92–2002)-the mark collectors prize over current Imperial Porcelain production. Hand-inscribed: “Paradise Bird, T.V. Afanasyeva, executed by M. Khukhrygina, 1998.”
