The goal of this kit is simple: an affordable Amateur Radio digital modes software suite, pre-installed and ready to use, so you can jump straight into learning, listening, and operating!

This Standard Kit includes 128GB storage and is designed to be the best overall value in my Ham Radio Linux Laptop Kit lineup.

This is ideal for licensed amateur radio operators, SWLs, and anyone interested in digital modes or emergency communications.

👋 Personally Set Up, Cleaned & Tested

Each laptop is set up by hand, cleaned, inspected, and tested before shipment. I do not just install software and throw the laptop in a box.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science & Technology and have sold over 300 laptops on across my laptop kit projects. I genuinely enjoy preparing these systems and knowing customers are using them for real day-to-day tasks, learning, ham radio, and emergency communications practice.

These are used laptops, so cosmetic wear should be expected, but I do not ship laptops that I would not personally feel comfortable using myself.

This is the middle option in my Ham Radio Linux Laptop Kit lineup and is intended to be the best overall value for most buyers.

The Standard Kit includes more storage than the Starter Kit, while keeping the price lower than the Premium Kit.

Compared to my Starter Kit, Standard Kit units are selected for better overall used condition, cleaner plastics, and no major sticker marks when possible.

It includes the same core pre-installed ham radio software suite as my Starter and Premium kits, with Linux Mint installed, tested, and ready for first-time setup.

Each laptop is fully functional and tested prior to shipment, including Wi-Fi, storage, system responsiveness, and major installed software.

💡 About Storage & System Setup

To improve reliability and prevent “out of storage” issues, this kit is configured as follows:

• The operating system and all applications run from the included 128GB USB drive
• The internal 16GB SSD is configured as additional storage for files, logs, recordings, and downloads

This design helps protect the system from filling up due to updates or log files and makes the setup more reliable for long-term use.

The USB drive is low-profile and intended to remain installed during normal operation.

Final configuration (audio devices, radio/interface settings, callsign, etc.) is required and varies by user equipment.

Pre-configured means the OS and software are installed and tested.

You will still need to:

• Connect to Wi-Fi
• Enter your callsign where required
• Select your audio input/output devices
• Configure settings for your specific on amateur radio frequencies requires a valid license.

  This system is suitable for listening, monitoring, learning, and software practice without transmitting.

  These laptops are generally chosen for cleaner plastics, no major sticker marks when possible, better overall appearance, and normal used laptop wear.

  Cosmetic wear may still include light scratches, light scuffs, minor plastic wear, worn rubber feet, worn LCD trim, or similar used laptop wear.

  Overall, these laptops are in good used condition, and I do not ship any laptop that I would not personally feel comfortable using myself.

  This Standard Kit is fully functional and tested prior to shipment.

  The laptop you receive will be similar to the one shown in the photos/videos.
