Offered in this sale is a 1950-60\'s Collegeville Halloween Costume box that originally contained a \"Man In Orbit\" themed Halloween Costume in Medium child\'s size. This box is in fabulous condition, no split cornets and the cellophane window is still intact.
But I question if the costume inside is original to this box?I say that because I certainly remember the Collegeville costumes (especially the skeleton) and they usually had a plastic mask and one piece suit that tied in the back like a hospital gown with legs..
This one is different and seems to me to be older?
The mask is not plastic but made of a cloth that reminds me of cheesecloth. It has a clear window still attached but the really cool thing is that it has red, light up eyes. There is a battery attachment for a D-cell battery constructed of a cardboard cylinder with a metal spring, like a flashlight has and a cord that attaches to the light bulb sockets.What\'s really great is my neighbor for supplying me with a battery to test this-and surprisingly-the eyes light up!The red lenses for eyes are plastic and can be removed if a bulb that looks like a flashlight bulb-burns out. One lens is loose and appears that just a dab of white glue holds them in. Again, easy access so you can replace the bulbs. There is also a hood made of a quality cloth material with two tie straps and a jacket with buttons-very well made in fact.If there were pants to this costume, they are no longer present.
Perhaps some of you are familiar with this type of costume and if you would be interested in sharing info on this, I\'ll add it to my listing.
The box I have to add again is really collector quality and very displayable!
And those light up eyes...just add such a great touch!
I notice other sellers mention of a costume has been in a box for a long time. And this one certainly has been, too. The mask has wrinkles and the jackets been neatly folded. The hood is flat and in very nice shape. The jackets is very nice shape too with great colors.
Please look at all the pictures to see condition and exactly what is included (no battery, gave it back to my neighbor).
