Up for sale is a beautiful, late Qing Dynasty, Chinese bronze tripod censer, featuring a classic bombé form, integrated mammiform tripod feet, and elegant raised dual bridge handles.
The underside features a crisp, recessed 16-character apocryphal mark: “大明宣德 五年監督 工部官臣 吳邦佐造” (“Great Ming, Xuande Reign, fifth year [1430 CE]. Supervised by Official/Minister of the Ministry of Public Works. Made by Wu Bangzuo”). The censer has a substantial presence and a decent, solid weight for its size, characteristic of quality historical bronze castings.

The censer has an attractive, dark chocolate brown patina with highly decorative mottled verdigris and green oxidation spotting.
