Rare 1955 Mid-Century Modern Abstract Artwork by Listed American Artist LeRoy K. Burket (1920–2003). This authentic, original 1955 mixed-media piece perfectly captures the highly collectible Postwar American modernist movement. Elegantly signed and dated "Burket '55" in ink, the artwork masterfully blends structural, geometric linework with fluid, organic washes of earthy watercolor and gouache. LeRoy Kirwan Burket was a highly regarded American modernist and academic who earned his MFA from the University of Iowa, taught at the University of Nebraska, and spent decades working alongside the renowned Trianon Press in Paris. With works housed in the permanent collections of major institutions—including the Walker Art Center, the St. Louis City Art Museum, and the Mulvane Art Center—Burket’s early 1950s pieces are incredibly scarce and highly sought after by MCM enthusiasts. A striking, investment-grade addition to any mid-century modern or avant-garde art collection!
