Filtration PerformanceThird-party lab testing introduced 30-micron particulates (average transmission debris size) at 1.3 GPM upstream of the filter. The OEM Allison filter allowed 55 percent of particles above 30 microns through after 39 minutes. The CAT filter allowed zero particles above 30 microns past the filter at 77.5 minutes.
Dirt Holding CapacityTested to determine how many grams of debris each filter could hold before opening the bypass and sending unfiltered fluid back into the transmission. The OEM Allison filter held 4.1 grams of grit. The CAT filter held 17.7 grams of grit, a 430 percent increase in holding capacity.
Flow EfficiencyTested at 1.3 GPM at 35 kPa, the CAT filter with its adapter flowed 188 percent more efficiently than the OEM Allison filter.
Seal StrengthA hydrostatic burst test was performed at 200+ PSI after the adapter, filters, and oil were conditioned at -30 degrees Celsius for 5 hours. The Allison filter held to 246 PSI. The CAT filter with adapter held to 258 PSI. The adapter O-ring compound was selected after testing multiple rubber compounds for durability in extreme conditions.
