Mottahedeh was founded in 1929 in New York City as an importer of fine china and porcelain. This salad/dessert plate features a pattern found on a platter made for the Duke of Gloucester in 1770. This pattern was reintroduced in 1996 by Vista Alegre in Portugal, a highly-respected porcelain manufacturer in business since 1824. The stunning pattern is called “Duke of Gloucester” and is entirely hand painted with lots of glowing gold leaf. The plate measures 8.25 inches wide by 1 inch tall. It is in excellent condition (see photos).
