Collection of family photos and memorabilia from Mrs. Margaret J Peterson, WAVES, a U.S. Navy's women’s reserve branch during WWII. From Long Beach to Houston this collection chronicles her service and private life. She was quite the socialite. Military service, mailgrams to President Ford, newspaper articles, photos and certificates of recognition.
The collection includes a photograph taken of Margaret at the Avalon
Club with several actors and singers of the Tommy Dorsey ensemble such as Sam Herman, jazz guitarist, Charlie Shavers, jazz trumpeter, Stuart Foster, baritone vocalist and Mr Tommy Dorsey himself. She was able to secure all their autographs that night on a small piece of paper along with a special note and autograph from Tommy Dorsey on the photo taken with him. What an amazing piece of history and memorabilia. You also will receive a 1950s, diary of teenaged girl.
