Was also designated 139WH-3) was an export variant of the Martin B-10 bomber developed for the Netherlands East Indies Air Force (ML-KNIL).It was the final production model in the B-10 series, with 82 aircraft built, featuring an extended \"greenhouse\" canopy, redesigned wings and nose, and more powerful Wright Cyclone R-1820-G5 engines.

Key characteristics and service history include:

  • Design Modifications: Unlike earlier variants with separate canopies, the Type 166 featured a continuous glass house covering both the pilot and rear gunner, along with external bomb shackles between the fuselage and engines.

  • Operational Service: These bombers were primarily used in the Dutch East Indies and saw combat during the Malayan Campaign and the defense of the Indies in 1942.

    Some captured aircraft were later sold to Thailand, where they served until 1945.
