The NVA-319 was not simply a generic external speaker. It was JRC\'s dedicated communications speaker/filter unit and is particularly associated with the company\'s highly regarded NRD-535 and NRD-545 communications receivers. For anyone assembling a complete JRC receiving station, this is one of the accessories that really finishes the setup.
This example is especially appealing because it has survived with its original JRC factory packaging and presents beautifully. The cabinet, front panel, grille, switches, lettering and rear panel all retain an exceptionally clean appearance, as shown in the photographs.
The front panel features the classic JRC badge and NVA-319 Speaker Unit designation, along with a useful set of audio controls specifically intended for communications listening.
Rather than merely reproducing receiver audio, the NVA-319 incorporates selectable audio filtering to tailor the sound for different signals and listening conditions. The front-panel controls include HIGH CUT A, HIGH CUT B and LOW CUT filtering, allowing unwanted portions of the audio spectrum to be reduced for clearer and more comfortable communications listening.
A front-mounted 1/4-inch PHONES jack is also provided, allowing headphones to be connected directly at the speaker.
The NVA-319 provides two selectable inputs. The rear panel includes a permanently attached audio cable terminating in an RCA/phono plug for Input 1, along with a separate RCA/phono jack for Input 2. The front-panel INPUT 1 / 2 selector makes it possible to switch between the two sources.
Inside is a quality Japanese-made 8-ohm speaker driver, and the rear panel identifies the unit as:
MODEL NVA-319
WEIGHT 2 kg
JRC – Japan Radio Co., Ltd.
MADE IN JAPAN
The speaker itself is rated at 8 ohms with a maximum input of 3 watts, making it specifically suited to communications-receiver audio rather than being an ordinary hi-fi loudspeaker.
The NVA-319 is particularly desirable as the matching external speaker for classic JRC receivers such as the:
- JRC NRD-535
- JRC NRD-535D
- JRC NRD-545
Its styling beautifully complements JRC\'s communications receivers, with the same serious gray finish, substantial metal construction and professional appearance for which Japan Radio equipment is known.

The NVA-319 has become a desirable companion piece for the classic JRC receivers because it provides both the correct visual match and communications-oriented audio filtering that an ordinary external speaker cannot duplicate.
For the collector building a complete JRC station, finding the receiver is only part of the challenge. Matching original accessories—particularly examples that have survived in this kind of condition and still retain their factory packaging—can be considerably harder to replace.
The original JRC box is included and displays beautifully alongside the speaker. It does show some age and storage-related wear, as would be expected from vintage original packaging. Please examine the photographs closely for its exact condition.
Also included is the small accessory shown in the photographs.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a JRC collector, shortwave listener, DX enthusiast, amateur radio operator, or owner of an NRD-535/535D or NRD-545 who wants the proper matching speaker rather than a generic replacement.
You will receive the exact JRC NVA-319 Speaker Unit, original JRC factory box and accessory shown in the photographs.
