Antique 1920s National Foundry Three Puppies Cast Iron Doorstop - Catalog No. 33Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic 1920s-1930s sand-cast iron doorstop manufactured by the National Foundry of Whitman, Massachusetts. This charming piece features three adorable puppies huddled together and tangled up in a molded rope leash. [1]This is the scarcer National Foundry version, highly distinguished by its elegant, tiered scalloped plinth base decorated with a classical embossed ribbon and garland scroll pattern along the front panel (unlike the blockier Hubley \"Orphans\" variant).Measurements & Weight:
- Width: 11 inches
- Height: 8 1/4 inches
- Depth: 4 inches
- Weight: 5 lbs 10 oz (unpacked)
Condition:
Excellent original antique condition with a gorgeous natural patina. This piece retains a substantial amount of its original cold-painted finish, showing wonderful multi-tone texture on the puppies, green grass, and dark base accents. The paint shows minor, uniform rub wear along the high points and edges consistent with its 100-year age. The hollow reverse side features a clean, uncleaned sand-cast iron cavity. No cracks, breaks, welds, or modern touch-ups. Please review all high-resolution photos for close-up details.
