OOAK 1780s Pierrot Ensemble for American Girl Doll

Inspired by the elegant fashions of the late 18th century, this one-of-a-kind ensemble is based on a 1780s cut-away Pierrot jacket, a fashionable style worn during the final decades of the eighteenth century.

The ensemble is created in beautiful plum Dupioni silk, chosen for its subtle texture and soft natural sheen. The fitted, deep-pointed gilet (vest) creates the graceful elongated waistline characteristic of the period and is finished with two rows of tiny decorative antique-style buttons.

Over the gilet is a beautifully tailored cut-away Pierrot jacket, also made from Dupioni silk. The jacket features a wide period-style collar, long fitted sleeves finished with delicate lace at the cuffs, decorative buttons, and a wonderfully shaped pleated peplum at the back. A glimpse of contrasting floral fabric beneath the peplum adds an unexpected and charming detail.

A soft ivory petticoat provides fullness and a lovely contrast against the rich plum silk. The ensemble is completed with a delicate cotton silk batiste white fichu, edged in fine lace and arranged softly around the neckline.

The combination of rich silk, fitted tailoring, tiny buttons and delicate lace gives this ensemble the refined character of late-18th-century fashion while keeping all of the details beautifully proportioned for the doll.
