Up for sale is a beautiful, vintage Thomas De La Rue Onoto Swift fountain pen and matching mechanical pencil set, complete with its original presentation box which has unfortunately been damaged over the years. (See Pictures)
Unlike most vintage pens found online that require costly repairs, this fountain pen has been serviced and is 100% writer-ready.
Fountain Pen Condition & Details:
Mechanical State:
A brand-new ink sac has been installed. The gold-plated lever mechanism moves smoothly, clicks into place properly, and draws ink perfectly.
The Nib:
Features its authentic, vintage 14k solid Gold "Warranted" nib stamped TDLR & Co Ltd. As seen in the included writing sample, it writes a smooth, wet line with excellent ink flow and offers gorgeous, subtle line variation under light pressure.
The tines are straight and perfectly aligned.
Cosmetics:
The solid black body retains a deep, glossy luster. The gold-plated pocket clip and lever show zero brassing or plating loss—they shine beautifully.
There are no personal engravings, deep bite marks, or cracks on the cap or barrel.
Mechanical Pencil Condition:
Matches the fountain pen perfectly in solid black with gleaming gold-plated trim. The internal mechanism operates smoothly, advancing and retracting the lead exactly as it should. The body is structurally sound with a clean tip and a tight, secure pocket clip.
Presentation Box Condition (Please Read prior to purchase).
Please review the photographs carefully. The original geometric presentation box is included but has structural damage. The decorative ends of the main box have broken off over time and are missing, exposing the underlying coloured cardboard core.
The interior velvet tray shows some vintage ink staining.
Because of these flaws, the set has been priced significantly lower than a mint-condition boxed example, making this a phenomenal buy for someone looking for a premium, restored daily writer.
