Buyers: This is a really rare and unique find. What makes this document and catalog set so special is the Department of The Treasury\'s (ATF) Technology Branch approval letter for the Thompson Model 1927A3 in .22lr. Designating it as a semi-automatic firearm and not a machine gun. This letter was addressed to then President and Owner of Auto-Ordnance, Ira Trast. Ira summited Serial # 1 of this gun to ATF for technical review to insure it could not be easily converted to Full-Auto. Which was required by ATF\'s Technology Branch for certain semi-automatic firearms prior to production being allowed for public sales. As an added twist, ATF Chief requests that Serial # 1 of this firearm model be retained by ATF for the in house \"Reference Collection\" which is still in existence to this day.
*The Original Instruction Sheet for 1927A3 in .22lr. (2 pages) is another really rare find. We have only come across 2 others as standalone(not with firearm) in 45+ years of collecting. The original guns were beautifully made. Hand fitted and a stunning polished blue. With really nice detail and grain on wood. These guns were a true cut above the 45acp models that they were producing at the time. However, production of the .22lr was very limited, as Auto-Ordnance had all kind of financial and internal corporate issues at the time.

This document and catalog set was part of a larger Estate Collection of a former Attorney of Auto-Ordnance. And who worked with Ira Trast on the many legal challenges and issues the Company was facing at the time. As such it provides an extremely interesting and rare look inside the History of this truly unique .22lr Semi-Auto.
