It is commonly referred to as the Alpine Gore-Tex® jacket, as it was originally issued to mountain troops. The jacket is designed to protect the wearer from wind and rain, while also allowing sweat to evaporate. There is no inner lining, making it an ideal waterproof top coat or a raincoat for warmer weather. Austrian military regular issue olive green color is a popular choice for those who prefer not to wear camouflage. The jacket is designed to be worn over thermal layers as a waterproof overcoat, with a generous cut that allows for layering and movement.
