This impressive example is identified by the distinctive circled “G” Osvaldo Gatto maker’s mark, which appears repeatedly on the cannon, including the barrel, swivel/yoke assembly and long tiller handle.
The cannon carries extensive historic-style markings and inscriptions, including:

This is an exceptionally substantial collector\'s piece. It weighs exactly 44 pounds and measures approximately 31 inches overall from the end of the tiller handle to the muzzle. The bore opening measures approximately 2 inches.
Construction features a massive bronze barrel with integral trunnions, heavy bronze/brass swivel mounting assembly and long tiller-style aiming handle terminating in a large ball finial. This is a full-size, extremely heavy display piece rather than a miniature decorative cannon.

The cannon has a beautiful naturally aged surface with extensive patina, oxidation, areas of verdigris, spotting, scratches and other wear from age and handling. It has not been polished or restored, preserving the character of the bronze and its numerous markings. Hardware also shows oxidation and age-related wear.
Osvaldo Gatto\'s Armas Antiguas workshop is known for handcrafted reproductions of historical firearms and artillery. The multiple circled-G marks found throughout this example provide particularly strong maker identification.
