ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Cagliari, Island of Sardinia. Although part of his duties were helping on the farm, he was always more fascinated by the shores of the Mediterranean where he could watch the boats and be a part of the sea. He took up art and began selling his drawings to the tourists until such time as he could afford to buy oils and canvas. He traveled in the 1940\'s, and has been confirmed to have been in New Zealand in 1941. In 1950 he live in New York .His technique is described as medium to light impasto, and he often used a pallete knife in place of a brush.Stirrat\'s style has been heavily mimicked by other artists including, W. Jones, Reynold, N. Doukas, and Aaron. It is unknown if Stirrat taught this technique.
