24\" x 32\"Overview:This is a wonderful original Mid-Century oil on masonite by listed American artist Patricia Ann Tool McHugh (1927-2022). Fresh from the artist\'s estate, this expressive landscape showcases Tool\'s bold use of color, energetic brushwork, and distinctive modernist style. Featuring stylized desert vegetation set against a dramatic blue sky and rolling landscape, this is a striking example of her ability to balance abstraction with the natural world.
The painting is signed in the lower right and is beautifully presented in a vintage wormwood frame that complements the warm palette of the artwork.
Bradley Fine Art was honored to partner with the Patricia Tool Estate to present this remarkable collection. With most of the works now sold, this is one of the few remaining original paintings available from the estate.

Condition:Excellent vintage condition. The painting is free of damage or restoration. The vintage wormwood frame has light scuffing and wear consistent with age.
Measurements: Painting is 24\"x32\" and it is approx 29\"x37\" framed.
About the Artist:Patricia Ann Tool McHugh (1927-2022) was an accomplished American painter, printmaker, and educator whose artistic career spanned more than six decades. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, she moved to Denver as a child and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Denver School of Art in 1949.
She studied with renowned colorist Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts, as well as illustrator Julio de Diego in Central City, Colorado. She later earned her Master of Arts in the Practice of Art from Oberlin College and further developed her artistic vision while studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy.
Patricia worked in a wide variety of media including oil, watercolor, collage, and printmaking. An avid traveler, she found inspiration throughout Europe, New Zealand, California, and the American West, producing colorful landscapes, abstract compositions, and expressive scenes that reflected her lifelong fascination with color, design, and shape.
From 1961 until her retirement in 1987, she taught drawing, color and design, printmaking, and art history at Sacramento City College while continuing an active exhibition career. Today her work is appreciated for its vibrant palette, confident brushwork, and distinctive modernist aesthetic.
Patricia passed away in Denver in 2022, leaving behind a remarkable body of work that continues to be enjoyed by collectors across the country.
