NEW PHOTOS: PRE-OWNED FROM LOCAL ESTATE SALE: 4 SiLVER-PLATED HALF-CENT COINS 1795, 96 97 +98> Flowing Hair 1/200 Dollar' de 1795: 4 Buxomly Goddess Silver-Plated Half Cent Tribute Coins 1795, 1796, 1797, 1798... in excellent condition. In the side-view, you can notice the original indication that this coin series is 1/200 of a US dollar at that time in history. This is lot# 10.5.26.
This coin series of 'commemorative coins' is based upon the original, known as a "half-cent." 200 of these would equal $1 US dollar way back at that time in history, over 220 years ago. These coins are important and collectible for serious historians, militaria afficionados, traders and resellers.
These coins, of course, are commemorative tribute coins and not originals.
Thecoins you receive will be slightly different than the photos as notwo coins are alike due to manufacturing variations on differentdays, stamping pressures, shadowing effects resulting in lighter ordarker characteristicsin the alloy metals, etc. Butrest assured, the DATES and DESIGNS will be the same.
This similar coin series are a rendition of older coins and are 'commemorative coins' based on the originals, known as ahalf-cents. 200 of these would equal $1 US dollar way back at thattime in those days.

In their day, 220 years ago, it was seldom that the average worker bee in human society even had one whole dollar.
Hence, the system of partial dollars was established. Of course, in our high-dollar modern world, there is no use for "HALF CENTS". And, certain politicians even want to eliminate the penny.
